Complementary gifts: Mercy, helps, encouragement, serving, hospitality, love & evangelism.
How do we serve:
1. By publicizing volunteer opportunities that serve seniors in the community.
Example: Meals on Wheels, Hospice volunteer and service opportunities to seniors in our community from FCC members.
Example: Nursing home visits, transportation services, health fairs, home repairs, home visitations and other various needs.
2. By providing opportunities to care for our own FCC seniors and coordinate efforts with
the pastoral care and other ministries within FCC.
Example: Home and hospital visitations, tape ministry
to convalescent homes, retirement homes, providing meals,
becoming a friend (weekly visits), at the option of the volunteer
offer transportation (to and from doctors' appointments) on
occasion and other various opportunities.
3. By providing training to the body of Christ to serve seniors in many different capacities
within the scope of their training, abilities and gifts.
Example: Volunteers will be trained within the scope of their gifts/abilities and matched with seniors that require specific help/desires.
Serving should be done with a joyful heart and filled with passion, therefore, we need to be alert to life by paying attention to the people already in our lives and preparing for those that God places in our lives.
There should be enough opportunities that any age can serve in a capacity and time frame that is best suited for them. Opportunities will be available seven days per week for individuals, couples and families willing to serve.
There will be training opportunities by community leaders, church leaders and lay people to explain the why and how to serve in specific areas.
