Missionaries Around the World

by Carol Marie Fischer

JON AND SONNET BARR breezed through Napa in late October. While they were recruiting, they had an opportunity to get Jon to a doctor to help him find out why his lower back and legs were numb.  It turns out Jon had a latent virus, similar to shingles, that worked itself into meningitis (resulting in a horrible headache). When it passed, it left some nerve damage in his lower back.  This is called Elsberg syndrome.  He had a very mild case and should see improvement over the next month although it could take nine months for all to be normal. Jon and Sonnet cancelled their vacation to Cancun to go to the doctor appointment. As we all know now, Cancun was hit by a horrible hurricane and most of the area was destroyed.  I would say that God is keeping a pretty tight hold on these two dedicated workers. Your continued prayers for improved good health are much appreciated.

JAMES KARIUKI AND STAN HERPICK were here for our November All Church Dinner at the Fairgrounds.  They shared some wonderful pictures of the work that is going on at New Dawn Communities in Africa.   Please keep this project in your prayers and hearts.  If you want to get personally involved, you can help support a child for only $30.00 a month. Can you imagine that?  You can send a child to school, feed and clothe him for only $30.00.  Maybe your family would commit to doing that for the year 2006 as a Christmas present to God.  Think about it!

DAVID AND TERRI VIDMAR covet your prayers concerning their new positions in Kazakhstan. They are working with a non-government organization called Intimak. It is a humanitarian aide organization which serves the people through medical training, cultural activities, and other ways. For many of the families working through YWAM this is the door through which they receive their visas allowing them to live there.

JEFFERY AND WENONA DELEON were spared serious damage after the last hurricane that swept through Florida. The terrifying noise from wind for most of two days was very frightening to all of them. Except for some possible roof damage and fallen trees all around their home, they were safe.  Because Wenona has a propane stove, she cooked meals for three families of neighbors. What a great way to be a witness for the Lord! Jeffrey was in Mexico while this hurricane raged.  The Deleon family was also able to help with water and food to share with those around them. Talk about God's providing in all situations.  Continue to pray for God's grace on this family. Jeffrey travels most of the time and Wenona has to take care of the home front alone. This is God's plan for their family right now and they do this with love and joy.

KULPAHAR CHILDREN'S HOME - IN INDIA needs our prayers. Leah Mosher is in her 80's and it's time that someone steps forward to keep Kulpahar going.  The leader must be someone outside of India who can keep the resources from the USA and others coming to support this huge project. Thousands of children have passed through those gates and found the love of Jesus Christ on the other side. We need to keep this work going. Your prayers can help us find the right person.

JUDY PICKETT in Africa still has health issues but is getting therapy that is helping for now. Safety and expenses are big prayer concerns for Judy as she continues to witness in a country torn by war, AIDS and orphaned children.

CHRIS AND TARA BALTZLEY in New Zealand are working with thousands of international students at the University. These students come from all over the world. Think of it!  We don't have to go to them; they come to us. What a perfect way to witness. It is not an easy ministry. Two new Christians went home to China and told their parents they were Christians. "Good," said the father. "That will help you to fit into New Zealand, but when you come home, you will return to being a Buddhist."  You can already see how we have to pray for Chris and Tara. Pray that God has the victory over these students.
