"A Family Reunion" - Celebrate Your Heritage

Who can forget the fantastic Chili Cook Off last year at our All Church Dinner? We found out there are teams of wonderful cooks in our midst who cooked great gourmet food and had incredible presentation. Each team served from a table decorated with a theme that added color and fun to a wonderful family evening..

This year we are again asking our talented cooks to "CELEBRATE YOUR HERITAGE." We want to have a taste of the world. We want to go where we have never gone before. We want you to share your family recipes from England or Scotland or wherever your ancestors originated. We are looking for serving tables decorated to fit your "country."

We want to walk into that huge hall and have it filled with laughing people, happy children, music and tables that reflect the world’s foods. We need all of you to be a part of that celebration.

Cook up a HUGE pot of STEW or SOUP from your old family recipes - enough to feed a lot of hungry people. We're looking for Spanish Paella, Mexican Pozle, German Hasenpfeffer, Russian Ushnoye, Hungarian Goulash, English Ramblemuse or just some good "serve me up" COWBOY Stew. Got Heritage? We want to see it there. If you don't feel like digging out the old recipe or if Aunt Bertie's recipe for Albanian Soup has the last five ingredients missing, then just bring your very favorite dish. Families should bring enough to feed 12 people. Small groups should bring enough to serve 30. The church will provide the salad and bread.

If that isn't enough, get your taste buds ready for the best pies you ever ate. We are looking for the best of the best for our pie contest. Categories to be judged are Fruit Pies (apple, berry); Cream Pies (coconut cream, banana cream, chocolate cream), Custard Pies (pumpkin, sweet potato) Seasonal Pies (pecan) - or maybe that Special Pie that’s in a category all itself. We're not picky, we just LOVE pie. Families should bring one pie; small groups should bring three. Don't bake pies? Don't like pies? Have children that won't eat pies? Then sneak in some brownies or cookies. They won't be judged with the pies, but we promise you THEY WILL be eaten.

This is going to be so much fun and the one time during the year that ALL of us get together as a church family. There will be Bounce Houses for the kids, and the Tom Bailey Family will provide entertainment.

We need you to sign up at the Hospitality Kiosk and let us know what you are cooking for our "CELEBRATE YOUR HERITAGE" family dinner. Also, remember that small groups/families should plan on decorating the SERVING table to “fit your country.” The serving tables are 6-8 ft long; if you bring ONE main dish, you will only decorate HALF of the 6-8 ft table. If you bring TWO main dishes, you will decorate the WHOLE table.

This will be another All Church Dinner to remember, and you don’t want to miss it. See you there!
